Aquatics competition gets under way

Photo

Special Olympics athletes from across the country competed in the preliminary time trials at the Bob Devaney Sports Center on July 19. Nebraska was represented by several athletes, including Cory Ford, 24, of Elkhorn. Ford swims in the butterfly, freestyle and relay races, and says his favorite is the butterfly. Ford loves the butterfly stroke because not only is it fun to swim, but also very challenging.

When Ford isn’t in the water, you can usually find him on the bowling lanes or running around the track. But like most athletes, Ford’s favorite thing about the 2010 U.S.A. Special Olympics National Games is making new friends.
