Medical professionals gathered at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha on Saturday to learn about the health needs of people with intellectual disabilities. One of the speakers was Tim Shriver, CEO of Special Olympics International.

  2. One factor that is not noted is that many of the population is without health care coverage due to financial ineligibility and due to ineligibility under commercial coverage. Unless parents are able to cover through the workplace, it is impossible to purchase policies for our children for their own accord. Thus after we retire and before our children obtain their own Medicare benefits, they are without any medical coverage.
