There are useful government agencies at every level: City, state and federal.

Dealing with these agencies can be complicated, even for natural born Americans, but there are people who know how to best navigate these systems, and they’re willing to help if you let them. Two prominent examples are the people like those at the Fusion Project or the Center for People in Need.

Below is a list of some key agencies that provide support:

  • Jobs: Nebraska’s department of labor provides resources for finding work or filing for unemployment benefits.
  • Jobs: The One-Stop Career Center is also a good resource for job seekers.
  • Health: The city Health Department provides resources and access to health programs for the poor and uninsured.
  • The state Attorney General’s office offers consumer protection services. People who have purchased something and feel they were treated unfairly or taken advantage of can find help by filing a complaint.
